Took us around 30mins and a gps from BU to Tamarind Springs. Great place to have a simple getaway with the company you love. and oh yea, good food.

It was a Wednesday night, I decided to take up a friend’s invite to this quaint little Japanese restaurant HAKO, at corner of Lt Collins and Elizabeth St. The front entrance was a BIG wooden door, it kinda looked a library. Got in, walked up a few steps, and I was quite impressed wth the interior. Simple yet classy, dim lights, and Sake bottles lined up just by the huge clear windows.

Aiya, why didn’t I bother to take pics of the place, 1 7 think about food only wtf.

Anyway, te waitress dictated the Specials for the night, “Seared Tuna with… (*I lost her after tuna..) and Rare Beef with Nashi Pear, Quail Egg… (* I also lost her after Egg..)” Sorry la, my memory is a fail and I was busy imagining how the dishes looked like when she spoke.

This is good, like REALLY good. It tasted so good that I wouldn’t be surprised if I turned into a cannibal one day wtf. Just kiddinggg.. You mix it around and break the quail egg yolk, then with your chopsticks, you put together some meat, cucumber, pear and put them in your mouth. Yummy is not even a good enough word to describe it LOL.

Then we also had Roasted Pork Belly with some Jap Mayo sauce, haiyo really have to write all this down next time lo.

Layer of meat and fat and meat then fat again. What more could you ask for? And jap mayo. Just how I like it mm hmm..

Sorry la, my description is not as elaborate but the picture tells all This is my favourite dish for the night, served with rice, and pickle. Waaaa Ooishiii wtf.

This was also served wih rice, and creamy sauce, not too heavy just nice

And we had Sake, poured into the cutest sake cup ever

OMMGGGGGG ~~ I see this I feel like squealinggg wtf

According to the waitress, it was imported from Japan, and my friend muka tembok ask whether can take home or not wtf. Is a KAWAIIIII nehhh ><~ wtf

We were too full to go for dessert. So we left the place for coffee somewhere else. Great dinner, if you have extra cash to splash. Which ironically I don’t but it’s okay because it satisfied mikijun’s monstrous hunger wtf.

Let’s fly over to Sarawak in the East Malaysia for a variety of delicious selection of hand-made noodles.

I am sure when you hear of Kuching, you will instantly think of Kolo Mee which is a popular order among both local and visiting tourists. ‘Koh-Loh mien’ is basically egg noodles boiled, stirred with pork oil and usually served with minced pork and char siew. This is a MUST try when you head over to the miao city.

An almost similar noodle but well known in Sibu is the Kampua Mee (in Foo Chow). The ingredients are more of less the same however prepared in a slightly different manner. The version of kampua you see below is what we call ‘Kampua Tau-u’ which means that it is seasoned with dark soy sauce, believe to be adapted from Peninsula. There is also one specific shop I ate in Sibu which had minced beef instead of char siew which was absolutely awesome, i’ll get a snap shot the next time I revisit the stall : )

For those who has slightly spicy tastebuds can go for Sarawak Laksa, which originates from Kuching. This is entirely different from the regular laksa or curry mee most of us have eaten because it comes with the base of sambal belacan and coconut milk and served with rice vermicelli, prawns, chicken and omelette strips etc. The thing I enjoyed most is the lemon grass fragrance smell and unique tasting gravy which blended splendidly.

Tomato Mee is also one of the common hawker dish in Sarawak. It is basically crispy noodles cooked and served with tomato sauce, vegetables, meat and sometimes a selection of seafood like prawns and squid. There is also the tomato kuay teow which I really enjoyed too.

For the Muslims, this is one of the best mee jawa in town which I had in Rajah Cafe in Jalan Pending. I am not too sure if we have this elsewhere with the similar style but I enjoyed this plate of yellow noodle served with bean sprout, tofu strips, hard-boiled egg and sate with a mixture of peanut sauce and thick concentrated gravy.

Feeeeeling hungry already? That’s all for today from Sarawak.

Chowster!

Location : Lorong McAlister, Penang

The captain of the food crew recommanded desserts after our Char Koah Teow adventure, and we decided on the famous “Penang Road Famous Chendol” ! This stall is located on the McAlister lane, lorong McAlister and it wasn’t really that easy to spot it. It was a hottttt day and this creamy, icey mouth watering chendol is all we needed to fight the heat! wtf wtf.

After rounding and rounding, finally we found this mobile stall. Excitedly we ordered the famous ICE CHENDOL and trust me it was heavenly.

the famous teochew penang road chendol!

It wasn’t the best of environment for deserts but we Malaysians are in for quality, not the surroundings Remember to spot for this road sign and you know you’re within walking range to the chendol stall.

Lorong McAlister, Penang

The Famous Stall !

Hmm.. I realised something in Penang. Every stall has the “FAMOUS” tag on their sign board. So how can we trust which is really the famous ones? Well, thanks to the half penang-nite, we sorta found our way to the “original” famous ones.

One Leg Kicking

you know u want me wtf

So guys n girls, if you happen to be in Penang and you can’t stand the heat, make you sure you drop by this stall and pamper yourself with this heavenly bowl of chendol!

Its one of those nights when Claudia and I would crack our brains just to think of a place where we can sit down and yum cha other than the usual TEN REN and MAX B, is a sian lan jor laaaa okkkk wtf. So I suggested something out of the norm, Brunetti’s woo hoo~

Located at the far end of Lygon St, near safeway and FCUK, we sat outside where there were mini tables a chairs, and ashtrays for SMOKERS who enjoy burning their lungs away while sipping their lattes and cappucinos. Sooo, we got a table outside, and I went into the cafe to get something of delight.

This one caught my eye, the name BACI, you know the chocolate BACI? It’s like Ferrero Roche but no Ferrero Roche so Baci would have to do la. Baci also not bad whaat. To my surprise, it actually tasted better that I thougt. It’s quite a thick mousse with a hint of hazelnut flavour, topped of with another layer of dark chocolate mousse with a sprinkle of nuts.

I’m just going to call this a White Chocolate Bomb, because I cannot remember the name! But nevertheless, it’s still quite yummy, not as yummy as the Baci mousse but it looks pretty. Basically its white chocolate and sponge cake, and a fancy Orange dusted white chocolate… piece wtf.

For drinks I had Italian Hot Chocolate.

More like eating chocolate than drinking chocolate its really REALLY thick, and as if not fattening enough, they had to add whipped CREAM on top. MMMmmm chocolate overload. Just how i like it.

Claudia had her latte. And you know how a latte looks like anyway. No pics taken wtf.

It ’s a good yum-cha-hang-out-smoke-drink coffee place to be at, but if you keep eating those desserts and eatingdrinking that hot chocolate, you’ll turn into an Oompa Loompa wtf.

The crowd can be a let off, so if you want your food served fast, DO NOT head there during the weekends or Public Holidays. This is an official warning! The place is called Restaurant Port Village and it resides somewhere along the coastlines of Port Klang (North Port).

Fish in soy sauce

The fish is plump and fresh! Just the way them Chinese likes it..

Crab Bee Hoon

The wait is horrendous. But the outcome deserves 2 thumbs up!

Mantis Prawns

Mantis Prawns again!

They’re fresh enough! Proof? Its shell is able to be removed easily unlike the rest rerved at other seafood restaurants. I normally take around 5 minutes to remove the shells (of each prawn, mind you)and by the time it’s off, you can forget bout eating already.. Siennnn!~ This one however is exceptionally easy to remove, thank god for that..

Bamboo Clams

Bamboo clams are one of the many seafood dishes you might not want to miss. It tastes like ‘lala’ except that it looks like small shoots of bamboo.

You know what’s the best part of it all? The view overlooks the port of Klang (thus the name! duh..) and if you’re lucky enough you might even catch a glimpse of a beautiful mermaid or the Food Goddess as she is called.. ha! Kidding.. Toodles and enjoy your meal there!

After driving around and around in the city of Penang, finally we found this hidden road side stall with the famous tag “FAMOUS AH LENG CHAR KEUH TEOW” ! I was pretty skeptical in the beginning, never a big fan of Char Keuh Teow since young. So the waitress took our order and after a mere 10 mins, this small portion of CKT was presented infront of me. WTF it was less than 10 bites. But the taste made up for its portion, it was heavenly. I can’t explain why it tasted so GOOD, but definitely it was one of the best out there.
